Borewell is a 750 acre farm in north Northumberland enjoying 3 miles of coastland between the south of the Tweed estuary towards Holy Island.
Borewell has been farmed by the Whitefords since 1959 and presently is farmed by John and Christine Whiteford and their son Daniel.
The herd was originally established by the purchase of the spring calving Dunlappie herd at Edzell in Angus in 2002 with further additions being made to the herd every year since then increasing the genetic diversity in the herd to produce a beef herd that works for us and also the commercial market.
We have worked closely with Biobest herd testing for a number of years now and are delighted to be awarded accredited status for Johnes disease and B.V.D. We consider ourselves IBR and Leptospirosis free and would not consider vaccinating for these diseases.
